Customers said that Wam!Net market director print & publishing Tim Daly deserved a medal for honour and service beyond the call of duty during the recent problems.
The company is in the process of a two-stage transition of customers from Wam!Nets network to Savvis, which will be completed in January.
The first stage, which involved the transfer of the Wam!Net servers and storage to Savvis data centres, has happened. It was this that caused the problems with both planned and unplanned interruptions to the service last month.
It will complete the move of clients from the Wam!Net network to the Savvis network in January. The firm claimed this would provide more reliable connections and better technical support, which will be provided from Savvis European data centre in Reading.
Once this is completed the firm will introduce third-party services to the network.
Printers and publishers are all looking at workflow, said Daly. The most important thing is that we listen to what customers want.
On Monday, Savvis unveiled its Media Services Platform, which is based on Wam!Net technology. It is being positioned as a managed utility service to integrate media creation, digital asset management and content distribution.
Key to the Media Services platform is its use of XML and the development of an API for integrating with third-party products.
