The paper, commercially available from EBB from 13 February, combines the high printable quality of a coated stock with the strong whiteness and high bulk appearance of uncoated paper, according to EBB.
Jonathan Hunt, managing director of Sappi UK, said: “Our new Raw paper is the latest example of Sappi’s continuing commitment to market-shaping investment in print and the future of the print industry.
Designed for use in high-end publishing, in products such as coffee table books or travel, automotive, and lifestyle magazines, the stock is available in a range of seven weights of 115gsm to 300gsm in 720x1,020mm sheets short grain and in 115, 150, 200 and 300gsm long-grain.
The paper will be available in three pricing tiers, defined by orders of less than a pallet, per pallet, and of three tonnes or more.
Sappi launched the Raw stock in the UK in July 2022.
EBB sales director Dave Tennent said that the addition of Raw to EBB’s stock list demonstrated the continued commitment to partnership between EBB and Sappi.
He added: “Raw will bring a key differentiator in the quality commercial print sector, it is an exceptional product offering an uncoated feel, with coated performance and a whiteness not seen in coated papers. The brightness of the material shows excellent ink contrast.”
Hunt added: “[Raw] now becomes part of the largest range of products with the deepest stock in the country at EBB. A paper like this opens new doors and creates new possibilities for end users and our print partners alike.”
Raw is made using ECF pulp and is FSC and PEFC certified.
