Data Layout is the first commercial installation and UK beta site FE Burmans second press is among the orders. KBA has also taken an order from a printer in the Republic of Ireland.
Greenwich-based Data Layouts 74 Karat has replaced a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 74.
Things are now exploding, said KBA UK sales manager digital technology Michael Greiger. Five presses have been sold in UK & Ireland, with excellent prospects to sell even more.
FE Burman will take delivery of its second machine, which will include a coater in September, conditional on a some technical issues with the existing press being sorted out.
A coater was part of the criteria from the beginning of the project, said managing director Michael Burman. Sadly we cant upgrade the existing unit to also include a coater.
Currently the firm is working hard to keep up with demand for work from the Karat. It is seeking press operators to allow it to move to permanent double day shifts as soon as possible on its existing 74 Karat.
KBA seems to have cracked it which is good news all round, said Burman.
