Rudolph Hell dies, aged 100

Rudolph Hell, one of the great printing technology developers of the 20th century, has died aged 100.

His contribution to the graphic arts included the Klischograph photomechanical printing plate etching machine and the Digiset, the first digital typesetter.

To mark his 100th birthday last year the German city of Kiel, where the Hell factory (later Linotype-Hell and now Heidelberg) is based, named a street Dr Hell Strasse in his honour.
