The Reading-based commercial print company took the opportunity to invest in CTP technology after bringing its pre-press, press, finishing and administration facilities under one roof.
Following the move, pre-press manager Steve Titmuss said it decided the time was right to leave its Herkules imagesetter behind.
Titmuss was initially sceptical about processless CTP, but was won over by the small footprint of the Dimension and its water wash unit. His concerns about the cost of processless plates were also overcome when he considered the savings in chemistry and manpower. Going CTP will speed up the makeready for its two five-colour Heidelberg Speedmasters.
Meanwhile AB Dick has installed a DPM 2508 polyester platesetter at Neath, Port Talbot County Borough Council. The DPM 2508 replaces an old camera system, and was selected due to the Council's need for a polyester platesetter that was compatible with its presses.
