The certification recognises the machine's conformance with the ISO/NWIP 12647-8 standard and ability to use EFI's Fiery server and Tecco CS130 semi-matte media.
The FograCert validation printing system standard, based on ISO 12647, is claimed to define what validation prints should look like.
Peter Williams, head of Ricoh's production printing business group, said: "With digital printing continuing to offer the highest growth rates within the commercial printing segment, certifications such as this will help printing business owners in their efforts to migrate more customer volume from conventional offset processes to digital printing technologies such as the Ricoh Pro C900."
Ricoh's C900 machine prints at speeds of up to 90 pages per minute in full colour and can handle stocks of 60-300gsm up to SRA3.
It has an 11,000-sheet input capacity and toner can be refilled on the fly. It features Ricoh image processing technology and is equipped with a built-in EFI Fiery controller. It can print at up to 1,200dpi.
Fogra's Andy Kraushaar added: "The Fogra certification process is an intensive two-day evaluation of a wide range of printer capabilities, including substrate colour and gloss, permanence and light-fastness, fading, rub resistance and colour accuracy – based on a number of stringent tests."
