The Fujifilm machine went in over the summer while the HP device was installed around two months ago.
Both machines are additional to the High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire-based company’s existing fleet, which also includes an HP Latex 360 and a Canon Océ Arizona.
Managing director Lance Britnell, who co-founded Resource Digital Graphics with brother Darren in 2011, said the firm considered alternatives from a range of suppliers when seeking out a new flatbed, eventually settling on the Acuity Select HS.
“We added the Fujifilm machine to our portfolio to increase our productivity and capacity, but also because it gives us another option in terms of format size.
“We’re finding that deadlines are getting shorter and shorter and it’s about catering for those and being able to have a lot more flexibility in terms of size formats to be able to turn jobs around quicker.
“We’re now printing 27sqm/hr on it, compared with 15sqm/hr on our existing platform, with no downturn in quality. We’re very close indeed to doubling our throughput, which is what we were aiming for.”
Organic growth was the catalyst for purchasing a second HP Latex machine, Britnell said.
“We like to push the boundaries and utilise the technologies so we’ll do anything from PVC banners to vinyls to roller banners and we’re also seeing a big trend towards fabrics, which we can do on the Latex.”
“One of the Latex machines is almost dedicated now to printing fabrics for tension fabric frames. It’s an area that we’d not really delved into before but we looked at it because our customers are demanding it.”
Resource Digital Graphics has six staff and serves clients ranging from local businesses to national chains and brands. Britnell said the company’s turnover has grown by around 100% in the last 12 months.
