The Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire-based business, which works with many large design agencies and blue-chip companies, particularly in the retail and exhibitions sectors, took delivery of the new six-colour (CMYK, light cyan and light magenta) plus white Durst UV machine over the summer. The HP device was installed around two weeks ago.
The Rho P10 250 HS Plus can achieve a print quality of 1,000dpi without loss of speed. The machine includes an ink-saver function, which saves up to 15% of ink, as well as an advanced application for roll-to-roll double-sided printing.
The machine, which can print at up to 400sqm/hr, can be used for applications ranging from indoor and outdoor signage and POS to small and medium-sized packaging and backlit applications for luxury goods.
Icon Graphics owner and director Neville Tosar said he expects to achieve a return on the Durst investment over the next couple of years.
“This is our first Durst printer – it’s an addition for us and joins an EFI Vutek. We’ve seen other options from Inca, Agfa and EFI but for us the Durst was in a league of its own.
“It’s miles faster than existing machinery, the quality is much better than what we’ve been doing and it’s more reliable. It’s also allowed us to take a look at different contracts.”
He added: “It improves our offering and will more than double production capacity. It shows we are investing in our customers and that we are safeguarding the quality of our production well into the future.”
The 50sqm/hr 1.6m-wide HP Latex 335, also additional kit, will be used by the company for applications including stickers. It joins other equipment including MTEX and Mimaki printers.
