US-based reseller Flashlight has been tasked with expanding the ImpoProof's global sales by its manufacturer, Hyphen Asia Pacific – a former division of the UK-based Hyphen group.
The ImpoProof, which was first launched in 1997, uses two Canon iPF 8000S plotters to produce up to 23 double-sided proofs per hour, in standard 8-up format, at 1,200dpi.
According to John Meggitt, ImpoProof product manager at Flashlight Digital, the ImpoProof's primary purpose is double-sided imposition proofs, although it has also been sold for double-sided contract proofs, direct mail VDP and double-sided blueprints.
He said: "It is targeted at all types of printing companies and we have an installed base of more than 300 units in the US and Canada. We are also very proud of the fact that we have a large percentage of repeat customers."
The ImpoProof, which has a list price of $38,600 (£26,412) in the US, uses a camera-based registration system that, in effect, re-registers every proof, allowing it to consistently hit a +/-1mm registration.
Meggitt also highlighted the reliability of the ImpoProof. "Our systems are software based," he said. "We have two potentially replaceable parts that cost less than $400 combined, which are user replaceable.
"In addition, 99% of all support for the system, other than printer failures, are fixable via webex or similar."
The ImpoProof, which is also available for the 60in Canon iPF 9000S, can connect to Prinergy, Rampage, Nexus, TrueFlow, PrintDrive, Harlequin, PrePage-it, Prinect, EskoGraphics and Brisque.
