The Manchester-based operation, part of the Reflex Group, took delivery of the Friedheim International-supplied device in September.
“We needed to purchase the Omega due to the fact that our existing folder gluer was no longer up to the job in terms of volumes, speed and efficiency and was requiring extensive maintenance in order to keep it running,” said site and production manager Mike Webb.
“The benefits include faster turnaround times, and the ability to match our press size better with larger cartons. Also, it will enable us to retain in-house work that we had previously outsourced to other companies.”
He added: “New and additional work will be attracted by this investment.”
The Omega Allpro 70, which has a starting price of £110,000 ex-works, runs at a maximum belt speed of 400m/min.
Features on the 700mm-wide machine include the ability to produce straight line, double wall, crash lock and optional four and six corners with single finger servo back-fold system.
