Tim Lance, sales director, X1 "Red tape needs to go. The new government seems to be making a decent attempt but it needs to move faster. Only recently we were excluded from a government tender because we couldn’t tick all of the boxes. Despite having worked for 24 years for this particular body, when it came to tender we were turned down. Proximity was not allowed to come into the equation and on the technical side, we were marked down for not having equipment that I know was not required to fulfil this contract."
Michael Moradian, owner, Print Express London "I definitely think this is worth doing. There are a lot of regulations that are handled by people that are obsessed with their jobs. We have double yellow lines out the front, but it clearly says unloading is allowed between 10am and 4pm. A client recently got a ticket because her boot wasn’t open when she was loading her car. The ticket stated she was there for less than a minute. There are a lot of red tape issues like this that could be eradicated if more direction was given by government."
Stuart Mason, managing director, Ink Shop Printing "Red tape has gone the same way as health and safety and employment law: completely over the top. This is 100% a PR exercise as recent involvement with council tenders show that more onerous requirements are made, meaning more red tape, not less. We’re in a world where no one will take responsibility, accidents are never allowed to happen and perfection is sought at every angle – in that culture red tape thrives."
