The business, which prints a lot of confidential and sensitive documents as well as its commercial work, began working towards the latest UKAS/BM Trada-accredited security standard around two years ago.

“We really wanted to do it properly and not just for the sake of it,” said managing director Paul Manning.

“For a medium-sized business it has been a lot of effort, with real investment in IT infrastructures and our processes. It’s made life harder than it sometimes seems like it needs to be, but it’s absolutely worth it,” he added.

Manning said that more and more customers were enquiring about the standard and that for certain work it was almost a necessity, with some prospects telling the firm to come back to them when they were accredited with the standard.

"We really expect this to open doors for us," Manning said.

"It’s great that we can now assure our customers that the data and anything we hold for them, be it personalised statements, exam papers or simply business cards, is dealt with in the most secure and confidential manner."

Last year the £6m-turnover business, which employs around 35 staff, expanded its services with a move into flatbed wide-format printing as well as adding photobook services to its web-to-print operations.
