"This investment will allow the Corby facility to capitalise on the vibrant magazine and retail insert market in the UK," said Quebecor World Corby managing director Andrew Parker.
The investment in the UK plant, part of the group's 140m ($250m) European re-equip, includes two KBA Compacta 818 72pp presses. The first press is expected to go live in late Q3 2006.
The order follows Amicus GPMS members at the plant voting to accept 6m worth of cost savings, including 70 redundancies, earlier this month.
"We're delighted the company has delivered on its promise," said Amicus GPMS East of England branch secretary Vernon Robson. "It offers future security to the remaining staff."
