David Quarmby, director of Leeds-based Quarmby colour, said "We have decided to invest in these printers to be able to meet our customers' demands. It was vital for us to have a solution where changing from flatbed to roll-fed and back again was quick and easy, enabling us to move from one job to another swiftly and smoothly.
"We saw it as a natural progression to buy new equipment that ensures the quality of the colour resolution. The new printers will have eight colours and white ink, unlike the current printer which only has six."
The company currently employs 16 staff, after recently taking on additional employees, and has a turnover of around £2m. It already owns two VUTEk QS2000 machines which it uses for large-format digital printing.
The business was formed in 1994 and produces a portfolio of display applications ranging from outdoor and indoor retail and event advertising, point-of-sale, exhibition graphics and wallpapers. It also specialises in creating sets and background for film and television.
Quarmby Colour’s press was the 100th sale of a Vutek GS Series grand format printer for EFI. Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president of sales and marketing at EFI, said "I am thrilled but not surprised that we have achieved our 100th sale as these innovative new machines are helping users to grow their business across all types of media."
