Under the deal Heidelberg Canada will offer the GS2000, GS3200 and GS5000r printers as well as inks under Heidelberg's Saphira branding, parts, consumables, accessories and upgrades.

It will also provide customer and technical support such as installation and training and will set up and profile Vutek machines using range of tools such as Prinect Color Toolbox.

Heidelberg Canada vice president product management Ken Freek said: "Wide- and superwide-format printing are of considerable interest to the Canadian print market, and Heidelberg has the right workflow, colour management, service and consumables expertise needed to integrate these technologies into a print production environment."

EFI worldwide sales and marketing senior vice president Frank Mallozzi said: "Commercial printers are looking for ways to distinguish themselves and offer their clients more diversified products and services.

"Heidelberg Canada is set up similar to what we currently do in the United States. They will focus on their sweet spot and of course their own customer base. EFI customers will remain EFI customers. We are looking at Heidelberg Canada to leverage their relationships and loyal customer base to expand our Superwide product portfolio."
