Bartlett's appointment as Quark's senior vice president of product management is illustrative of the software developer's determination to regain lost ground in the field of dynamic publishing.
Quark chief executive Ray Schiavone said: "Having played an influential role in establishing dynamic publishing as a market category, PG is a perfect fit for our senior team. He will play a key role in driving our dynamic publishing strategy, including the ongoing development of both our enterprise and desktop technologies."
Bartlett, who has 14 years of experience in the sector, was responsible for product direction and management at Arbortext and was instrumental in the introduction of new products, entry into new markets and expansion in existing markets.
He said: "I have passion for publishing software and have been on both the user and vendor sides of the industry for nearly my entire career. I'm excited to be here where desktop publishing was born – and where dynamic publishing will flourish."
Bartlett will be tasked with increasing revenue by identifying growth opportunities and working with everyone from product development to operations, marketing and sales.
