According to technical manager Soma Patel: "We've developed these products around the core need to deliver to our customers a reduction in wastage and improvement and consistency in the quality of their production."
DataCentral is a step towards its ideal of "lights-out" production. It is available as two modules, available separately or as a bundle, one is a performance reporting and the other offers automated set-up.
The automated set-up module is compatible with Register Guidance System (RGS), Ribbon Control System (RCS) and Colour Control System (CCS), which has been migrated to the Icon platform. It is based on a modular concept to enable more functionality to be added as new products come on stream, using JDF files, created in pre-press or via the press control, to set up CCS, RGS and RCS.
The performance reporting module can store information from all the QuadTech products, and users browser-based system to access the reports, which can then be exported. "With better quality assurance you can guarantee the quality to the clients, setting and monitoring performance goals," said Patel.
It also announced two register control products for web fed applications RGS with MultiCam and RCS with MultiCam. The retrofittable MultiCam has no moving parts, making it maintenance free. Illumination is LED based, and it employs semi-conductor technology enabling high-speed processing, which QT believes will address the needs of OEMs in the future.
Also premiered was Heliostat 300, an electrostatic assist system for gravure presses. It provides control of print quality by using carbon fibre brushes to charge the impression cylinder enabling better ink transfer, eliminating missed dots and speckling. The 300 is more suitable for wider web widths than its predecessor the 280.
The Autotron 2600 Register Guidance System for packaging printers has received improved scanning heads. The LED units can pick up transparent and reflective substrates and even coatings such as glues and varnishes. The nine different MiniCam 625 heads are smaller than 35mm film canisters and can be retrofitted to any Autotron system.
