The installation of an Easymount Sign with heated top roller took place two weeks ago.
QPS director Chris Bailey said: “It was part of a bigger package. We are installing a Roland machine for them as well, due to go in either next week or a week after next. After a slow start, we have a couple more laminator installs on the cards.”
GBL director David Hall said: “QPS did a good job, no problems at all. We’ve just opened up a graphics department so bought a couple of bits of kit from them.
"This is a new side of the business for us and these are some of the best laminators on the market, so I said you might as well throw one in."
Hall said the Witham, Essex-based company would be increasing production following the new kit purchase. The business mainly produces POS work for companies in the cosmetics industry.
Easymount laminators are manufactured by Coalville, Leicestershire-based Vivid Laminating Technologies. Bailey said he saw a demonstration in the spring and the two businesses “took it from there”.
He said: “We are the main distributor for Nazdar digital inks so are in and out of all sorts of sites. We were increasingly being asked to supply laminators and looking at what people are installing and what seems to be popular; Easymount seemed to be a sensible option.
“They are well made for the price bracket they are in and have a sensible range of sizes and capabilities to suit most budgets.”
The Easymount range includes the 1.6m-wide Sign, priced at £3,150, through to the standard Easymount with two hot rollers, a “more heavyweight” laminator, according to Bailey, which retails at £8,895.
The most expensive in the range is the Easymount Air, which is around £10,000. Models are available in widths ranging from 1.2m to 2.1m.
QPS has also started supplying the Vivid Boss range of wide-format laminating films, available in separate widths.
Bailey said that even though the Burscough, Lancashire-based company has taken on these new pieces of wide-format kit for reselling, its main priority remains Nazdar inks.
QPS turns over just shy of £2m, employing five staff. Bailey anticipates turnover to rise again this year, as it has done for the previous 12.
Last April, it used Birmingham's Sign & Digital UK show to launch its Nazdar LWU705 series UV ink.
