PSP targets 1m growth with guillotine purchase

Poplar Services Printers (PSP) has kicked off a major investment spree with a new Perfecta guillotine, which it hopes will lead to a 1m increase in turnover.

The St Helens-based company is preparing for an increase in capacity by installing a Perfecta Flowline HTVC 115 from UK distributor Graphic Arts Equipment. It also has plans to purchase a new press in 2009.

The JDF/CIP4 compatible Flowline features 400 programs and up to 8,000 cut marks with recorded comments. There is also a USB stick, hardwire functions and remote diagnostics interface.

Poplar's system is also equipped with a high-speed AutoCut guillotine, in-bed waste removal, stack lift, jogger, scale counter and uploaders.

Managing director David Bennett said: "We are looking to increase turnover by £1m, to £3m, in the next two or three years and to do that we are installing a new press in September next year.

"As part of the plan, it was essential the finishing department, particularly the guillotine, could cope with the increase in work. A guillotine is not a short-term piece of equipment so we wanted one with the highest specifications."

The company is also looking to gain ISO18001 later this year, to add to ISO9001.
