Prometheus aims to be a 'digital powerhouse' after 180k spend

Litho printer Prometheus Press said it intends to become a "digital powerhouse" after installing a Duplo finishing suite.

Kent-based Prometheus's £180,000 system includes a DPB500 PUR perfect binder, an Ultra 205A UV coater, a Digital System 445 bookletmaker, a DC445IFS creaser, Renz punch binding equipment and a Matrix laminator from Vivid.

Managing director of the company Julian Marsh said: "I want Prometheus to be a powerhouse in digital print. We have the right toolbox to grow this business aggressively in the next few years by not only offering digital, as well as litho, to some of our existing customers, but by challenging for larger accounts and contracts."

Prometheus added the finishing equipment after moving premises and installing an HP Indigo 7000.

The DPB500 PUR will be primarily used for high-volume perfect-bound book work, while the Ultra 205A will form part of the company's new photobook production line. The DC445IFS will be used for direct mail jobs and the Digital System 445 will be used to produce ‘mini booklets'.
