Printing.com posts 30% sales boost and expands

Printing.com has reported a 30% increase in net invoiced sales and has announced plans to move to a new automated production hub in Manchester early next year.

Chief executive Tony Rafferty also said the firm's number of bolt-on franchise agreements had risen to 31, with two new operations set to open in mid 2003.

The company will move its production hub with head office from Salford to a site three to four miles away early next year, and will also install a new Komori Lithrone S40 with coater.

Net invoiced sales for the four-week period to 8 December rose 30% to 688,000, a new record.

The company's 14 stores reported net invoiced sales of 488,000, an average of 32,000 per store, and up 14% per store on the same period last year.

The improved performance comes soon after Printing.com posted its first ever pre-tax profit - totalling 160,000 ? for the 28-week period to 13 October (PrintWeek, 8 November).

Rafferty hopes to announce a number of new bolt-on agreements in the new year. The first outlet in the firm's full franchise operation is also expected
to open early in 2003.
