Printforms takes on new staff after press investment

Printforms has taken on three new members of staff following the installation of its second Ryobi 524HE as it positions itself to capitalise on the upturn.

The Wakefield-based business, which owns the patented broCARD pocket book design, invested in the new press to satisfy the requirements of its existing customer base.

Printforms director Shaun Stanley said the press buy sent out a strong message to customers at a time when many printers are shying away from investment.

"This is a step in the right direction – companies that steer their way through this recession successfully will come out much stronger," he said.

A number of printers in the Wakefield area have collapsed over the past two years and Stanley said that Printforms was now the only full colour litho printer based in the centre of the city.

The business is currently working on an advertising campaign, sending out newsletters and advertising in the local media. This will be followed up by a four-piece mailing campaign at the start of next year.

Stanley said that business had suffered after a "terrible" start to the year, but had picked up in the second and third quarter.

The B3 Ryobi 524HE joins an existing machine and a Ryobi 522 and 520. The press has a throughput of up to 11,000 sheets per hour and features semi-automatic plate changing. It was supplied by Ryobi UK distributor Apex Digital Graphics.
