Eazy Print installs Ryobi 524HE and DP System platesetter

Hampshire-based Eazy Print has installed a Ryobi 524HE four-colour press and DP System platesetter to bring longer run work in-house.

The predominantly W2P company was previously a digital-only house with a flatbed UV machine and Konica Minolta printer, and so outsourced litho work.

“I just thought we’re giving away a lot of margin on work and losing control of it to some degree. Operating online you’re trying to do everything as quickly as possible and you just don’t get that control with outsourcing,” said Paul Serellis, managing director of Eazy Print.

“We’re now able to offer 48-hour turnarounds which is crucial. Offering a five day turnaround online just wouldn’t get you any work these days.”

The company can now print runs of up to 40,000, and sometimes as low as 250, on the Ryobi. “That’s why we went with SRA3, because most of our work is really low runs and that seems to be becoming more common,” explained Serellis.

Eazy Print has more than trebled the amount of litho work being ordered since the £120,000 install of the press and platesetter. The target is to boost turnover from £500,000 currently to at least £750,000 by the end of the year.

The Ryobi 524HE is a B3 landscape format printer with semi-automatic plate changing, program inking, off press controls, continuous dampening, a stream feeder, remote ink ducts and speeds of up to 11,000 sheets per hour.

The press and platesetter were both supplied and installed by Apex Digital Graphics.
