Charity Marie Curie hopes to enlist the help of printers around the country for its upcoming National Day of Reflection, which involves people creating their own local ‘Walls of Reflection’ using a specially-designed print kit.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life charity. Its services include frontline nursing and hospice care, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.

The charity’s National Day of Reflection takes place on 23 March. The intention is to commemorate and celebrate people who have died in the past two years, and to support the millions of people who have been bereaved during the pandemic.

The template kit to create a Wall of Reflection has been designed as A4 sheets in order to make it widely accessible and easy for people to print at home.

However, Marie Curie hopes that printers across the country will get involved by offering a number of free kits to their local communities and help spread the word at grassroots level.

Marie Curie marketing and communications director Claire Thwaites said: “We know that many printing companies around the UK have long-standing and close links with their communities. I hope that by helping to provide printed packs to local Marie Curie supporters so they can create their Walls of Reflection, these community ties will only be strengthened.

“Thank you in advance for your support, as we prepare to remember those who have died during the pandemic and support the millions of people who are grieving on our National Day of Reflection on 23 March.”

The 36pp kit includes a sample wall layout, pages designed as corner pieces featuring petals from the Marie Curie daffodil, a series of frame designs for people to add their own memories, and a “This wall of Reflection has been supported by…” page where printing companies can add their own details.

In addition, the Marie Curie team has created a 'how to' guide for those planning to organise a wall.

Printers can, of course, decide how many free kits they would be willing to produce for use by, for example, schools or community groups in their local area.

Printweek will help Marie Curie share the details of printing companies that want to be involved with the project, and this article will be updated with the names and locations of firms that are offering to produce kits for their local communities.

Please email your details to printweek.newsdesk@markallengroup.com with the subject line ‘Marie Curie’ to be included.

More information on the National Day of Reflection can be found on the Marie Curie website. The charity is also encouraging people to share their experiences and help spread awareness on social media using the hashtag #WallsofReflection.
