Printcafe trials Prime software at Mohn Media

Mohn Media will be the test site for Printcafes production planning software, Prime.

It will be installed at the German printer, which is part of Arvato, the media services division of Bertelsmann, in October.

Prime, unveiled by Printcafe at its Connect 2002 conference earlier this month, takes job details from the MIS and creates an imposition template for use in pre-press (PrintWeek, 14 June).

Mohn will connect a Printcafe Prograph MIS to its 70-user Creo Prinergy workflow, as part of Creos Networked Graphic Production concept.

"Its time to invest in intelligence," said Mohn Media director of business operations Roland Witte.

Next month the firm plans to take delivery of a MAN Roland DICOweb, provided it has achieved certain quality benchmarks associated with the ability to clean the cylinders between jobs.
