Print Team's Hamada buy fits a day's work into an hour

Print Team has made its foray into four-colour with a new Hamada press and also overhauled its platesetter offering by investing in a chemistry-free Vector model from Presstek.

The family-owned, Dorset-based firm installed the Hamada B452AI MKII in a bid to improve the quality of the printer's output, while bringing its four-colour work in-house.

The Presstek-supplied B3 machine, which can print at speeds of up to 10,000iph, has allowed the five-staff firm to cut job times for its four-colour work from a day to just an hour.

Print Team managing director Damian Smith told printweek.com the kit has "increased quality" and saved the firm "an enormous amount of time across the board".

He added that by bringing four-colour printing in-house, the firm has become more efficient and "increasingly more cost-effective".

The 17-year-old printer has also taken delivery of a Presstek Vector TX52 platesetter that images chemistry-free metal plates at run lengths of up to 25,000 impressions.

Smith added the Vector TX52 "is the company's first step in providing an environmentally friendly printing solution and one which we think will bring us new business".

The printer also runs a two-colour ABDick 9995 press and several Xerox digital machines. It produces a range of leaflets, greetings cards, flyers and business cards for clients around Dorset.
