Total print company turnover in 2005, as measured by the Office of National Statistics, dipped 0.4% to £15.14bn compared to 2004 figures.
Sales of printed products, however, rose 4.1% to £13.2bn during the year, its third year of growth.
The figures go against conventional wisdom that the market is shrinking in the face of competition from overseas and the internet.
Print sales rise for third year
Sales of printed products are on the up, even though turnover as a whole is falling, according to figures published in a new report by the BPIF.
