The media, direct marketing and print management firm appointed joint administrators David Shambrook and James Dowers from RSM UK Restructuring Advisory on 16 October.
The company will be wound up, having ceased to trade in September.
According to its most recent filed accounts, made up to June 2023, the business employed 13. All staff have been made redundant.
The administrators told Printweek: “The joint administrators are working to wind down the business and assets in an orderly way.”
However, the administrators didn't expand on the circumstances that led to their appointment. Calls and emails to Griffin Media Solutions were unanswered.
Griffin Media Solutions’ latest accounts showed £4.9m owed by debtors and £158,000 cash. Owing £3.7m to creditors, shareholders’ funds were at a positive £1m. The was a similar picture for 2022.
The agency specialised in managing insertions for national newspapers and magazines, with over 75 exclusively managed insert titles. It also managed over 150 exclusive consumer lists, according to its website, and was a leading expert in the age 50+ market.
Griffin Media Solutions’ print management work likewise makes up a major part of the business, with the firm handling planning and buying for more than 50 clients, managing the production of over a million catalogues and over 30m inserts monthly, according to its website.
The firm’s diverse offering also includes publishing interests, with the niche bi-monthly Arthritis Digest title, which claims a circulation of 90,000.
According to filings at Companies House, Gildas Walton was a director of the business around the time of the appointment of the administrators following a flurry resignations. According to filings, Walton established a new company, Mediaverts Advertising, on 20 September.
