Print invited to manufacturing summit

The print industry will have the chance to put its views to government next week at the department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)'s Advanced Manufacturing Growth Summit.

BPIF president Rupert Middleton, Unite assistant general secretary Tony Burke and Proskills chief executive Terry Watts will be among 100 guests at the event next Tuesday (25 January).

The event, launched by the BIS last week, will be attended by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg and business secretary Vince Cable and will inform the government's policy for the manufacturing sector ahead of the 2011 budget.

Middleton said: "We want to ensure that print has a seat at the table. I am not sure that the industry is well enough recognised for its innovation and there is a perception of the industry that we need to break down."
