CPI joins forces with publishing service for authors
CPI UK has become the first printer to integrate with CompletelyNovel.com, a new web-based platform that allows aspiring authors to publish and print their books online. Random House Group and Faber & Faber having signed up with profiles on the website.
30% damage reported at Southernprint bindery fire
Southernprint's binding division, Southern Binders, has reported damage to two of its three perfect-binding machines following a blaze that stretched Dorset Fire and Rescue to its limit. Southern Binders is understood to have suffered 30% damage to its contents.
ICSM warns of 'catastrophic' months ahead
The next couple of months could be catastrophic for print suppliers but those that do survive will thrive once the recession is over, ICSM has warned. The company announced that it had recovered £2.4m of bad debt for printers so far this year.
Sappi predicts 'challenging' 2009
Paper manufacturer Sappi has warned of lower-than-expected demand for paper as global markets continue to deteriorate. It claimed that demand for coated paper had fallen and said that it expected demand levels to remain "substantially below" for the remainder of the year.
Taylor Bloxham boss leaves position
Peter Hammond has left his role as managing director of Print People Group subsidiaries Taylor Bloxham and C&R Printing Services. Taylor Bloxham announced his sudden departure from the business and simply said: "His departure brings to an end a long and exciting association with Bruce Sharpless and the Sharpless family."
