The Mitcham, Surrey-based firm said the accreditation, which took around three months to achieve, was becoming a necessity for certain contracts.
ISO 27001:2013 puts more emphasis on measuring and evaluating how well an organisation’s information security management system is performing.
“The ISO 27001 process has really enhanced our existing data security controls and processes,” said Positive Images UK managing director Danny Sullivan.
“We have been providing accredited direct mail for many years and we expect ISO 27001 to open more doors to us.”
Marketing manager Kim Sullivan said: “We’ve found that so many people are asking for this ISO, especially with tenders, and it’s almost becoming essential really.”
The company also recently achieved ISO 9001 and has had Direct Marketing Association (DMA) accreditation for a decade.
The Cygnus software, which was installed in the summer, is enabling the company to offer enhanced data processing services.
“Cygnus is about getting the best return on investment for our clients. It will pull out all the duplicates and people that have deceased or moved so there’s less waste,” said Kim Sullivan.
The software will also allow the firm to offer its clients Mailmark, for maximum postal discounts.
Family-owned Positive Images UK, which has 18 staff and a turnover of £2m, provides commercial print and direct mail for clients in the retail, health, financial, media, charity and public sectors as well as creative agencies and print management companies.
