Polestar mulls moving Chantry bindery

Polestar has proposed to relocate its Chantry bindery at Middleton Grove, Leeds, to a factory next door to Polestar Chantry in Wakefield.

"Discussions are taking place at national level with Polestar senior representatives in regard to the move," said GPMU deputy general secretary Tony Burke.

Full details on exactly what kit and how many staff would be relocated were unavailable.

"We're currently negotiating with the company on the move and all the relevant details that go with it," said Burke.

This would be the second move in a little over a year for the staff. In April 2003 the entire bindery operation was moved from the Watmoughs bindery in Idle, Bradford to its present location in Middleton Grove, Leeds.

As PrintWeek went to press Polestar was unavailable for comment.
