The printer, which has 20 operations across Europe, has commissioned a Xerox iGen3 110 with XMPie software for its Polestar Direct site in Nottingham.
The buy is part of a move to further expand the firm's variable colour facilities into direct mail marketing campaigns as well as opening up "new client relationships".
Tim Smith, category director for Polestar Applied Solutions, told printweek.com the investment represented a broadening of the services the company can offer.
"We're looking to support clients, not just in print, but provide solutions such as coinciding text message campaigns with direct mail marketing, the whole package," he said.
In addition, the company has increased its digital mono capacity by 50% with the installation of four Océ VarioStream 9210 digital web presses.
One of which will be housed in the firm's Wheatons branch in Exeter and will be joined by a second HP Indigo 5500 press, both of which are scheduled for delivery this month.
Derek Kemp, managing director of Polestar Applied Solutions, said the investments would ensure the company remained "cost effective on service, capability and flexibility for new business" while "continuing to service our existing customers".
Kemp added: "In addition to strengthening our range of services by having compatible equipment across multiple sites, we are able to offer greater flexibility and full business continuity, as well as guaranteed time-critical production scheduling."
