"The web offset market in the UK continues to suffer from excess capacity and declining prices," said Michael Tame, managing director of Polestar Colchester. "Margins have been under pressure and as a result of these factors, we need to act in order to protect the business."
Tame is planning to cut the number of staff from the 29 January by changing the shift pattern on its 32pp presses to reduce its weekend capacity.
The Colchester web offset site produces magazines and supplements for Reed Business Information, IPC, FT Business and H Bauer and currently employs around 430 staff.
