Pitney Bowes kicks off 2009 with two major deals

Mail and marketing equipment specialist Pitney Bowes has announced two big distribution deals to begin the new year.

The company will be distributing form processing equipment from Spedo, as well as new mailsort technology from 21 Grams.

A deal with Spedo will allow Pitney to distribute the company's full range of cutters, folders, mergers, unwinders and stackers.

According to general manager for UK and Ireland, Gareth Stoten, the partnership will give Pitney Bowes an end-to-end mailing solution.

He said: "Our intention is to deliver best-in-class technology across the entire processing cycle."

Under a joint partnership with 21 Grams, Pitney Bowes will distribute the Swedish firm's PostStream Postal Cost Optimisation Solution to its mailstream offerings.

The system, which includes isort, takes postcode information from PrintStream files and automatically assesses the most cost-efficient postal option based on the weight of each mailpiece and the available postal tariffs.

Stoten added: "Results of the tests on any given day showed typical savings of between 8-12% against standard postal costs. For high volume mailers, this can mean a multi-million reduction in postal expenditure per annum."
