The UV inkjet investment, which has been supplied to the Caerphilly printer by PaperCo, will also make the Welsh-business more efficient, it claimed.
According to managing director Jon Stephens, the HP machine complements its existing wide-format portfolio.
"It gives us a tool to print on any substrate up to 50mm thick including Foamex, banner materials, polypropylene and even doors," he added.
The FB950 can print up to 80sqm in billboard mode and offers print resolutions up to 1,200x600dpi.
Despite a maximum running speed of 80sqm, Stephens said the company, which specialises in exhibitions, signage and short-run digital work, was happy to run the printer in a slower production mode for the majority of its work.
The eight-year-old business looked at a variety of kit options before deciding on the 2.5m-wide HP machine.
"It is very easy to switch between different substrates and the set up time is minimal. The RIP and software are very user friendly and we are going to find the roll-to-roll mechanism very useful," Stephens added.
