Papyrus to rethink sales department

Papyrus managing director Steve Thomson has said that further restructuring of the companys sales organisation is to take place, as he continues to improve the companys structure and performance.

"What you will see is further significant structural changes within our sales organisation," Thomson said.

He added that this would involve the positioning of one sales director at board level, along with the construction of a sales management team "to deal with day-to-day sales management issues".

"What I am trying to do is create a balanced board so the company can take on all the strategic issues we face," said Thomson.

The changes will also mean a restructuring of the Papyrus board, which will consist of Thomson, a sales director, the finance and operations director, the marketing director and a new products marketing director, which is a newly-created position.

"The average age of the board will be 34, and all of these appointments are my people, all from outside the industry," said Thomson.

He added that this will mean the board will now be able to discuss important issues such as the state of the market, human resources and high-level finance.

Since taking up his post permanently in September last year, Thomson has already overseen the development of a customer service centre of excellence at Waltham Cross, as part of a 1m investment strategy.
