“We bought the Spica, which is a four-colour machine, to test the B2 market out having previously only been B3,” said director Mark Wilson.

“With the work we’re getting in now we really needed a five-colour machine to be able to offer coated work.”

The new press will be fitted with Easy Control closed-loop colour control and the firm will also be adding Prinect Pressroom Manager and updating its pre-press workflow to Prinect Prepress Manager version 15.

With the installation of the SX 74, £2m-turnover, 23-staff Pandaprint will be an entirely Heidelberg house running a Speedmaster 52-4, a GTO and a Linoprint 751 digital machine.

Wilson said the firm liked the integration of all its Heidelberg equipment and the level of service and support from the firm.
