Well, this festive season a treat is in story for anyone making a trip to the north-western end of London’s Piccadilly line.
Uxbridge-based Balcony Shirts has created its annual homage to the town, featuring a toy train on a circular track decorated with replicas of local landmarks including the tube station entrance, the Market House and St Margaret’s Church.
The attention to detail is delightful, and the base of the display also features a cupboard that opens to reveal Bruce Willis in his famous Die Hard air duct scene, which makes perfect sense in the Balcony Shirts world.
A number of guest trains have taken a spin on the track including a 1980s London Underground Central Line tube train, and a Great Western 2783 steam engine – complete with vape ‘steam’.
Managing director Scott Balcony described it as “Our annual love letter to Uxbridge town,” and the window has certainly become a much-loved seasonal fixture.
