Overmatter: runners' world

We are in awe of the printiverse folk who completed the 2015 London Marathon.

Immediate Media’s Steve Wehrle is one of just 12 remaining “ever-presents” who have competed in every London Marathon since its inception 35 years ago. Wehrle, who ran a commendable 4:56:09, and raised money for the Prince’s Trust, said: “I will do one more then probably retire,” although we’ll believe that when we see it.

Elsewhere, Technotrans managing director Peter Benton clocked up 1,500 miles and lost 9kg while training for the event. Spurred on by the promise of additional cash for men’s cancer charity Orchid if he completed the run in under three-and-a-half hours, Benton battled cramp and crossed the line in 3:29:00 – result! Polestar sales director David Gray ran 4:01:19 in memory of the group’s late gravure sales director Steve Miles, and raised money for St Richard’s Hospice Foundation. See www.justgiving.com/David-Gray28

And Balreed, the event’s official print partner, fielded a team of 10 runners while simultaneously ensuring the organisers had all the on-site print resources required to ensure things ran smoothly – even if for some of the 38,000-plus participants that involved walking or limping.
