Overmatter: Keeping up with the Smiths

The wheels on the bike go round and round… and the trend for engaging in cycling feats of endurance shows no signs of braking, while keeping up with the Smiths is becoming harder.

A 15-strong team from GF Smith has completed a 220-mile bridge-to-bridge cycle from London-to-Hull in aid of a local hospice.

“We had 22 punctures, three minor crashes and one lost pedal! All in all it was a fantastic team experience and great to be able to do something for our local hospice, which is a cause that’s close to our heart at GF Smith,” said joint managing director John Haslam.

Meanwhile, bosses at packaging giant DS Smith Packaging are going from, well, top to bottom as they cycle from Livingston in Scotland to Launceston in Cornwall, incorporating stops at DS Smith factories around the country. The cyclists are aiming to raise a whopping £100,000 for various charities.
