Overmatter: Cropper shows his moves

Overmatter tips a hat (or should that be a feathered headdress) to Gemini Print Group managing director Steve Cropper, who gamely took part in a Le Cabaret de Paris-themed charity evening last month in aid of children’s charities, raising more than £22,000 for the Starr Trust in the process.

In his flowing red sequinned dress, aforementioned headdress and clutching two giant feathery fans, Steve took to the stage at the annual fundraising Midsummer Ball like a natural. Well, as naturally that is as someone who’s usual recreational activities involve Guinness and rugby.

Thanks to some expert tuition by singer Alex Banks, also part of the ensemble in full Drag Race outfit, Steve was able to master his moves and the lyrics to chosen song Lady Marmalade.

The duo, complete with backing dancers, also picked up the trophy for best act on the night.

Says Steve: “So far, we have raised £22k, but I am hoping the photo evidence of me prancing in my heels gives people enough of a laugh to add their support by donating."

A flamboyant “well done sweetie” goes to all involved. And we’re also ever so pleased that Cropper didn’t, um, come a cropper in his heels.
