OpSec Security works with major brands and a wide range of businesses, and offers a range of integrated on-product and online brand protection and anti-counterfeiting services.
The HP Indigo 6K Secure allows the production of multi-layered, personalised – such as unique identifiers – and restricted security features in one pass.
OpSec Security said that the new press would allow it to offer enhanced “security and flexibility” thanks to the single-pass productivity.
CEO Dr Selva Selvaratnam said that the business aimed to keep ahead of the counterfeiters.
“The HP Indigo 6K Secure Press, in conjunction with our advanced Optical Variable Device technologies, provides brand owners the confidence that they will remain ahead of even the most determined counterfeiters.
“Our ability to print secure, impactful designs on sustainable and recycled substrates, using sustainable security inks from HP, also allows us to offer brands the distinctiveness they need, whilst upholding their commitment to sustainability.”
OpSec’s proprietary technology includes its OpSec Insight secure traceability platform.
The web-fed press can print onto paper, paperboard, unsupported films, and pressure-sensitive label stock. It prints in CMYK plus a raft of special colour inks, including HP Indigo yellow and blue invisible ElectroInk, and a range of restricted security inks that cannot be used with other digital printing devices.
Amir Raziel, head of strategic marketing at HP Indigo, said the manufacturer was delighted that OpSec Security had opted for the Indigo solution.
“We expect this partnership to change the standard paradigm for both companies, setting a new bar in anti-counterfeiting,” he said.
The press has been installed at OpSec's Crowther manufacturing site in Washington, Tyne and Wear.
OpSec Security is exhibiting at this week’s Brand Licensing Europe event (17-19 November) at London’s Excel centre.
The firm's UK operation had sales of £18.3m in the year to 31 March 2020.
