The rebrand was announced at last month’s Retail Design Expo, London, with the move to a new 1,700sqm unit, four times the size of its previous one in Leeds, due to take place in the autumn. The new facility is two miles away from the old one.
Managing director of the rebranded UK operation, Iain Clasper-Cotte, did not disclose any further details about the investment programme but said he would be looking to add a number of pieces of equipment to the new premises. The relocation follows the company reshoring UK production to Leeds last year after a self-described “eight-year hiatus”.
It will also retain the Northern Flags brand as a web-to-print service for short-run flag jobs.
Clasper-Cotte, who took over at the helm of Northern Flags five years ago, said one of the main reasons for the name change was that customers didn't automatically appreciate the full breadth of Northern Flags’ offering.
He said: “We recognised that we were working on more pan-European campaigns, working in conjunction with sister companies abroad, but we were spending the first 10 minutes of sales calls saying ‘I know the name says Northern but most of our companies are in the south of England’ and that we offer latex, UV and dye-sublimation printing, and don’t just do flags.
“We wanted a new name that promoted the benefits of the group far more.
“FaberExposize is more of a consultative sell. We speak with clients on printing test runs on different types of long-run fabrics, whereas for smaller orders of 30 flags at a time it makes more sense for that to come from an online transaction.”
Eight new staff are going to be brought in over the next couple of months in preparation for the move, bringing total UK staff numbers up to 28.
Dutch-headquartered 450-staff FaberExposize, which was previously known as Faber Vlaggen, calls itself Europe’s largest printed fabrics supplier, running nine production facilities across Europe and Asia. As well as production, it also offers project management services.
