New year predictions: Louisa Bull, Unite the Union

Louisa Bull, national officer at Unite's Graphical, Paper, Media & IT Sector, is hoping 2018 will be a better year when it comes to apprenticeships and the upskilling of existing industry employees. A general election and a Champions League win for Chelsea are also on her wish-list.

What’s at the top of your Christmas wish list this year?

A general election!

 

What trend do you think 2017 will be remembered for?

The growth of Artificial Intelligence.

 

What do you think will represent the single biggest opportunity for printers in 2018 and why?

Hopefully something with a longer print run than the Royal Wedding.

 

What do you think will represent the single biggest threat for printers in 2018 and why?

The migration of more and more information and content onto mobile platforms.

 

What’s the one thing that the industry should do more of, or do better, in 2018?

More collaboration between Unite and employers across all sectors on apprenticeships and the upskilling of workers.

  

What was your biggest disappointment in 2017?

Failure to find a diet that works that would include chocolate and curries.

 

What was your highlight of 2017?

Chelsea winning the Premiership.

 

What are your hopes for 2018?

For Chelsea to win the Champions League but probably more likely the retention of the single market.

 

What was the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Steer clear of anyone who doesn’t buy their round.

 

What was the most important thing that you learnt in 2017?

Who I can rely on when it counts.

  

What if anything will you do differently in 2018?

Read all the books I buy.
