The application allows the conversion of QuarkXPress 6 documents into QuarkXPress 4.11, or 5.x in Macintosh OS 9.
Other additions include a verify saved document notification, which tells the user if a file is suspect, and allows the user to save a temporary document at the same time.
MarkzTools 5.5 makes QuarkXPress backwards compatible, allowing the user to open higher version documents, and sends an alert when a lower version document is being saved to a higher version.
Full colour picture previews can also be converted into grey pictures, reducing the file size.
The price of MarkzTools 5.5 is 139, while an upgrade from MarkzTools 5.1 is available for 69.
