New London Weekly sets launch date

The latest London freesheet to target the capital's commuters has confirmed its launch date.

The title will launch on 5 February, with around 250,000 copies handed out on Fridays and Saturdays each week.

However, despite the title's looming launch date, it remains unclear who is behind the London Weekly's publisher Global Publishing Group (GPG).

It was reported last year that the title would be unveiled in 2010, although requests for further information from PrintWeek and The Guardian were ignored.

A website for the title is now running news pieces, featuring mainly celebrity gossip.

Marketing manager Paul Morris told PrintWeek that a printer had been contracted last year, however, details will not be available until 4 February – the day before the title's launch.

The website also claims that GPG plans to add three additional new titles by 2012, with Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham the next target cities.
