Based in Crawley, the group spent £25,000 on the new device. It was installed by large-format kit reseller Spandex at the end of August in order to streamline its production workflow.
The backlit, 6m-long machine has sides trays for material rolls and a height adjustable table.
It replaces a smaller applicator that was not appropriate for the company’s workload. According to managing director Graham Knight, the new device improves throughput.
“It means a lot less handling because we do not have to move the panels,” said Knight. “The Rollsroller allows us to deliver this work faster and more efficiently which makes huge improvements to our workflow."
The firm produces work for brands including Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and Marmite.
Knight added: “For us, having quality consistency is vital. This machine gives us this, regardless of who’s operating it. It’s also easy to use so will reduce staff training requirements.”
He said the new machine offers a simple and accurate way to apply self-adhesive vinyl, cut vinyl graphics, digital prints and application tapes to many different substrates.
16-strong Xpress is ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accredited and has been creating digital and large-format printing and wayfinding since 1991.
