New facility and kit for Chromocraft

MGP Chromocraft has invested 1.8m in new Heidelberg kit as it prepares to move to new premises.

The Slough-based company will move into a new 2,000sqm facility at the turn of the year. The latest spend on equipment includes a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102-10P long perfector with ImageControl. The press is linked to a Suprasetter 105 platesetter through Prinect Preset Link.

"Long perfecting will enhance our competitiveness and profitability," said MGP Chromocraft managing director David Burgess. "We hope this will extend both our magazine production and commercial work, bringing in longer runs and potentially direct mail. Currently 90% of our work is direct from end users in the south but this could open up new business opportunities."

The 10-colour press will be installed in November with the remainder of the Heidelberg kit installed over the Christmas period.

The SM 102 replaces a CD 102-5LX with coater.
