The new division, to be headed up by KPG deputy managing director Neil Yeomans, is part of a global project to increase market share in the digital sector.
KPG managing director Terry Baber said that the decision to create the new arm had been reinforced by the success of the firm's digital products at Drupa. "For the first time at a show digital sales matched that of consumables," he said. "This is itself supports our decision to expand our current digital business structure."
The division will also lead to the creation of a number of new positions at the Watford-based company, as well as new distribution channels for the products.
Yeomans said: "By setting up a Digital Solutions Division we are able to cater for a wider range of digital printing applications and investigate the possibility of new distribution agreements."
It also looks likely that new products will follow. Yeoman said that the new division would allow KPG to "develop and sell enhanced digital products that complement our existing business."
